This rate decreased from 244 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2000 to 72 deaths in 2020, an achievement attributed to “Morocco’s efforts in terms of medical supervision, particularly in gynecology-obstetrics,” as highlighted by Tahraoui during question time.
As part of the consolidation of these achievements, the government official said that the Ministry is redoubling its efforts to ensure adequate medical supervision in this field.
He pointed out that positions have been opened up to train medical specialists on a contractual basis, through annual residency tests.
Tahraoui also expressed his department’s commitment to strengthening public hospitals each year, by equipping them with various vital specialties, with the aim of guaranteeing the continuity of health services and ensuring the right to quality care.
